Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vein and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievement as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to whatever virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all rigidity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the thing of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in times of misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.

An organization presented in our first lecture. My online summer course is already turning out to be infinitely cooler than I thought it would be.

Over the course of the past 2.5 weeks I have:
1) Gone on, not one, but two roller coaster rides.
2) Earned straight A’s in nursing school. #neverhappeningagain
3) Scored a full time job nannying three little ones, and a dog named Samson.
4) Participated in the writing and recording of a rap song.
5) Lost a few old friends, made a few new friends, and strengthened relationships with ones who are close to my heart. I have realized my deep need for people in my life.
6) Crafted a mix-tape for a person I care about.
7) Enjoyed sunflower seeds at a professional baseball game.
8) Proudly watched many of my friends graduate from college.
9) Demolished and reconstructed a bathroom ceiling, and got honest with Jesus while doing it.
10) Moved out of 705 S. Franklin Avenue; a place I will always call home.
Life is dynamic. It is painful and joyous and happening all the time. I am embracing honesty, stepping forth with resilience, and feeling every part of it. So thankful for every detail of my life, both big and small.

For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
